Collings Guitars was started when Bill Collings started to build guitars in Houston, Texas in the mid '70's' His natural talent soon got his instruments noticed and being used by local artists, Lyle Lovett and Rick Gordon. Bill moved to Austin, Texas where he got his own shop in the mid 80's which quickly expanded once his quality craftmanship, work ethos and attention to detail became known. As his renown grew artists such as Pete Townsend, Brian May and Joni Mitchell soon stated to play with Colling's instruments.

We can refret your Collngs guitar with a plain unbound fingerboard or a lacquered maple board (includes re-lacquer). We service and repair bound fingerboard or bound fingerboard with enclosed fret-ends (Gibson style). Also dressing, stoning and polishing services.
Collings guitar necks and headstocks repaired. Glueing, splinting and spraying as necessary on all string instruments.

Collings background information:
In 1999 Collings moved onto other stringed instruments than just the acoustic guitars that he had been specialising in such as mandolins, and by 2006 he was producing electric guitars. In 2009 Bill Collings had also created a line of concert and tenor ukuleles. This production line was superseded however by the Waterloo Guitar.
Bill Collings died in July 2017, but his company keeps his legacy alive by following his example of meticulous standards and superior craftmanship.
Collings' team of skilled luthiers also build custom handmade 12-Fret and 14-Fret acoustic guitars.
