In 1833 CF Martin arrived in America from Germany. By 1839 Martin had moved to Pennsylvania, where he continued to build on and grow the guitar business that he had begun on his arrival in the States. His reputation for unexcelled quality soon became well known. Between 1842-3 Martin created the very first Size 1 model and the earliest known x-braced guitar. Martin then went on to produce the first full size "Dreadnought" or D-sized guitar, it was designed to provide bass for vocal accompaniment, as well as greater volume.

We can refret your Martin guitar with a plain unbound fingerboard or a lacquered maple board (includes re-lacquer). We service and repair bound fingerboard or bound fingerboard with enclosed fret-ends (Gibson style). Also dressing, stoning and polishing services.
Martin guitar necks and headstocks repaired. Glueing, splinting and spraying as necessary on all string instruments.

Martin background information:
The Martin company are also known for their innovation in strings. They introduced such innovations as the first high-tensile strength steel-string core wire; the first nickel acoustic strings and Titanium Core strings. On top of this, Martin have paved the way in the acoustic market with the introduction of x-bracing and the 14-fret guitar, all of which we are able to able to service and repair.
The Dreadnought guitar, arguably the most popular acoustic guitar design in existence, today still makes up around 80% of Martin's yearly production.
They make numerous models in several series including Modern Deluxe, Authentic and Custom Signature Editions. There's also the Standard, 15, 16, 17, Road, X, Junior and the distinctive Backpacker series. There is also a Ukulele series.
