Ibanez is a Japanese brand based in Nagoya, Japan and owned by Hoshino Gokki Company Ltd. They began to manufacture their own musical instruments in 1935 although they didn't become a known name in the West until around 1960 when they became one of the first Japanese musical instrument makers to gain a significant presence within the import guitar sales in the USA and Europe. A number of famous names are linked to Ibanez including George Benson, Gary Willis, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.
